Elena V. Moldovan, Esq.

Elena V. Moldovan was Counsel to the firm. Her expertise includes International Law and Corporate Governance.

Prior to her arrival in the United States, Ms. Moldovan was an accomplished jurist in Romania, where her trial court tenure began at the remarkable age of 23. While on the bench, Ms. Moldovan gained a reputation for integrity and penetrating legal insight. She was appointed to oversee various election proceedings and resolve disputes between candidates. In 2002, the Romania Minister of Justice appointed Judge Moldovan as a member of the Commission for Granting the Status of Anti-communist Fighters, a position comparable to the Holocaust reparation committees employed by other European nations. In that role, Judge Moldovan conducted fact-finding investigations and drafted reports recommending the granting or denying of petitioners' legal entitlement to moral and economic relief for atrocities committed before the 1989 revolution.

Upon leaving the bench in 2004, Ms. Moldovan emigrated to the United States where she earned her LL.M. Degree in International Business and Trade from the Fordham University School of Law. Her continuing scholarship is focused on transitional justice in Romania.   

Ms. Moldovan is the weekly legal columnist for Meridianul, the largest nationally circulated Romanian-American newspaper. Her original 2006 columns and their English translations appear here.

On August 28, 2006, Ms. Moldovan joined the Capital Markets department at Cadwalader, Wickersham and Taft LLP.

Ms. Moldovan is licensed to practice before the New York State courts.
