Firm Announces Fall Externship Program

August 28, 2006 (New York, NY) – White & Associates, P.C. today announced the commencement of the firm’s Fall Externship Program, a partnership initiative with the Fordham University School of Law. Participants were selected based upon demonstrated academic achievement and potential for success within the legal profession.

David P. Cole received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Virginia.  Before enrolling at the Fordham School of Law, Mr. Cole worked as a litigation paralegal in the Washington, D.C. offices of McDermott, Will & Emery.  While at Fordham, Mr. Cole interned at the Associate Chief Counsel’s Office of United States Customs and Border Protection. Mr. Cole represented Fordham at the Willem C. Vis (West) International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria.  His interest in international commercial contracts is evinced by his continuing involvement with the Vis Moot, an event widely regarded as the world’s premier interschool competition. Mr. Cole has earned Dean’s List honors at Fordham and served as a staff member of the Fordham International Law Journal.   

M. Ryan Hopkins earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech.  Prior to commencing his legal studies, Mr. Hopkins served as a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Army.  A decorated combat veteran, Mr. Hopkins piloted Longbow Apache helicopters in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He is the founder of the Fordham University School of Law Society of Military and Uniformed Services and a staff member of the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment Law Journal.

Adriane LaShure graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern Indiana.  Ms. LaShure earned Dean’s List honors en route to a double major in Economics and Sociology.  Ms. LaShure completed a 2006 summer externship with the Brooklyn office of The Legal Aid Society. Her commitment to public interest continues through involvement with the Fordham Domestic Violence Advocacy Center. She is a staff member of the Fordham Journal of Corporate and Finance Law.

Lauren A. Mayne is an alumna of Northwestern University. Before enrolling in the Fordham School of Law, Ms. Mayne worked for Goldman Sachs in New York, Paris and London in the Fixed Income and Asset Management Divisions. Additionally, Ms. Mayne was a paralegal at the New York County District Attorney’s Office. While at Fordham, she has interned at both the United States Attorney’s Office - Civil Division in the Eastern District of New York and the New York County Supreme Court – Civil Division. Ms. Mayne has been a member of the Fordham Dispute Resolution Society for three years, competing in the Willem C. Vis (West) International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna. She serves as Notes & Articles Editor of the Fordham International Law Journal and Team Editor of the 2007 Vis (East) Moot to be held in Hong Kong, SAR.

Miguel Nieves is an alumnus of Princeton University.  Before enrolling at Fordham, Mr. Nieves worked with Zone Press Drug Elimination Program, a federally-funded initiative in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has acquired private sector experience through associations with Princeton, NJ-based law firm Duane Morris and Bloomberg, LLP.  He is a member of the Fordham Domestic Violence Courtroom Advocates Program.

Jennifer Stadler graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in Anthropology. Ms. Stadler is a member of the Fordham Dispute Resolution Society, a nationally-recognized program designed to hone advocacy skills in the field of appropriate dispute resolution.
